How: you receive a fax in VoIP

Voice over IP or VOIP, is a term for a recipient of the voice communication to send and receive calls via an Internet connection.

    Close your cord-bound telephone modem from your computer.

Plug the other end to the cable connected telephone cord on the VOIP recipient. If your VOIP plan with call waiting, you disable it. Incoming calls waiting call lines can disrupt incoming faxes. Contact your VOIP provider for call waiting options.

    Open Windows fax software.

  • Click the "Start" button. On the start menu, click on "" all programs > Accessories > communication > fax. "" Double on "Send a fax". Windows fax software opens. If you find a Windows search for the word "Fax" the fax setup utility in the "All programs".

    Click on "Get fax now" is located in the menu bar.

  • Your computer will now be prepared to receive a fax. If someone sends a fax to your VOIP phone number, your computer will receive the call. Click "reply now" and the fax will be downloaded to your computer.
