Look at the back of the ultra versatile phone jacks.

Confirm that it is connected to a business phone line with lower phone jack.

Turn on the device.

Press the fax and then on the menu. Settings, navigate to "Telephone line type" by you the following options in the order: maintenance settings, fax settings, settings for devices, type of phone line. Choose the right option for your type of telephone line (Rotary or pulse).
